The Tioga County Clerk’s Office does not publicly disclose information on recording backlog.

If your construction project is located in Tioga County, then yes, you should file your lien here.

The Tioga County Clerk’s recording requirements are as follows:

1. All papers presented for filing or recording must be legible
or otherwise suitable for copying or recording by the scanning process.

2. Notations must be clearly stated on the instrument.

3. A stamped self-addressed envelope must be provided to return recorded documents by mail. Indicate the name and return address or all recorded instruments.

The Tioga County Clerk’s payment policies are as follows:

1. Check or cash only, No credit cards. Do not mail cash.

2. All personal checks must have a preprinted name and
address and include a telephone number if possible.
(No starter checks)

3. All checks in excess of $1000 must be an Attorney’s check,
Title Company check, Certified check, Bank check or Money
Order. Limit checks to no more than $2000 per check.

4. All returned checks will be charged a $15 return check fee.

The Tioga County Clerk’s recording fees are as follows:
