If your construction project is located in Rockland County, then yes, you should file your lien here.

The Rockland County Clerk’s recording requirements are as follows:

1. To be recorded, all documents must be originals, in recordable form, legible, signed and notarized.

2. “Record and Return” must be written on every document to ensure a permanent record to whom the original document was returned.

3. A self addressed, stamped and appropriately sized envelope is required for any document or copy to be returned.

The Rockland County Clerk’s page size and margin requirements are as follows:

• The top of the first page must include 3 inch margin and a 1 inch margin on all other sides.
• All subsequent pages must have a 1 inch margin on all sides.
• Page size may be no smaller than 8.5 x 11.
• Font size may be no larger than 9 point.
• Mechanics liens must be printed in black ink only.

The Rockland County Clerk’s Office accepts check payments. Checks must be made payable to “Rockland County Clerk”.
