The Chemung County Clerk’s recording requirements are as follows:

1. BLACK ink is preferred for all recorded documents.

2. All personal checks MUST have the name and telephone number of the Attorney or Title Company on the reverse.

3. Checks for recording fee must be for the exact amount.

4. Record and Return information should be on a page that is to be recorded.

5. When mailing documents for processing please do not assemble document with binding or staples that cannot be removed and replaced.

No paper in an action in the Supreme and County Court, other than an order submitted for signature to a Judge out of court, shall be submitted for any purpose in the Supreme or County Court or to a clerk thereof, unless there is endorsed on such paper, the INDEX NUMBER of the action, assigned by the clerk of the court. (8018(c) CPLR.)

The Chemung County Clerk’s recording fees are as follows:

Recording Fees

For recording any instrument required by statute to be recorded, $45.00 and, in addition thereto, $5.00 for each page or portion of a page to be recorded. $0.50 for each cross reference.

An Assignment of Mortgage which assigns more than one mortgage, there shall be an additional fee of three dollars for every Mortgage assigned. For each additional Mortgage satisfied on one document, the fee will be the full price of recording one Satisfaction.
