Although there are no formatting requirements for mechanics liens in Georgia, you must include the following information:

1. Your information and your company’s information. Failure to provide these details could invalidate your lien
2. The hiring party’s information, or the information of the party that hired you for the job.
3. The property owner’s information.
4. The lien amount. Make sure you do the math very carefully; include only the value of labor and materials. Overestimating your lien amount
or providing inaccurate lien amounts can result in some serious fines and consequences.
5. Include a property description. This can be found via the Fulton County Recorder’s Office.
6. Georgia law mandates that you include this notice on your lien claim: “THIS CLAIM OF LIEN EXPIRES AND IS VOID 395 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF FILING OF
THE CLAIM OF LIEN IF NO NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT OF LIEN ACTION IS FILED IN THAT TIME PERIOD.”
7. Get the lien signed and notarized.

There are no specific formatting requirements for mechanics liens filed in the state of Georgia.

The Fulton County Superior Court Clerk’s Office accepts money orders, cashier’s checks, certified funds, and business checks. Cards are now accepted with a minimum charge of $5.00. Do not mail cash.
Note that out of state personal checks are not accepted.
