Kings County Recorder Mechanics Lien Filing

You can file your mechanic liens in person at the Kings County Clerk/Recorder’s office located at:

Documents submitted for same day recording must be presented to the County Clerk/Recorder’s office office between 8:30 am and 3:00 p.m.

Title companies must submit documents for recording between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. in order to receive the 8:00 recording time.

The Kings County Clerk/Recorder’s minimum recording requirements are as follows:

1. The document must have a tax statement mailing address at the bottom of the first page.

2. The title of the document must appear on the first page immediately below the spaces reserved for the return address and the Recorder.

All documents must comply with the 8 1/2 ” X 11″ paper (16 pound bond or heavier) standard page size and not to exceed 8 1/2″ X 14″. A fee will be charged for ech page that is not 8 1/2″ X 11″.

The top right hand side of the document must have a 2 1/2″ X 5″ space reserved for Recorders Use Only.

The Top Left hand side of the document must have a 2 1/2″ X 3 1/2″ space reserved for a return address.

The document must have 1/2″ margins on all pages.

The Kings County Recorder generally accepts all major forms of payment. The Kings County recorder accepts cash, money order, and most major credit cards.

The Kings County Clerk/Recorder’s regular recording fee is $13.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page.

Non-standard Form: $3.00 per page that is not 8 1/2″ x 11″

Penalty Print: $1.00

Indexing Fees: $1.00 for each additional reference indexed

$1.00 for each group of 10 names, or fraction thereof, in addition to the initial first 10 names

Release of Lien by State or local government if original lien was recorded without fee: $8.00

Copy Fees

Official Copy: $3.50 for the first page and $0.10 for each additional page
Certification Fee: $0.80
