Materialman’s Lien

noun

A non-payment claim made by material suppliers on a construction project. More commonly known as a mechanics lien.

In some states, certain material suppliers have specific notice requirements that they must follow in order to retain the right to file a materialman’s lien. Otherwise, they follow the same general mechanics lien process as other construction parties.
