I am a design professional (licensed in KY). I was hired by a sub-contractor (HVAC) to a general contractor to do plans for an office renovation project in Kentucky. I started working on the project on 5/19/2020. The last work I did was completed on 7/20/2020. I submitted an invoice for payment on 6/3/2020 for the first part of the work ($4,000) and a final invoice on 7/20/2020 for the remaining amount ($2,000). Neither invoice has been paid.
Two questions:
-Would I be able to file a Kentucky Mechanics Lien?
-If yes to the first question, when is the latest date I could file the Lien?
KentuckyIf a contractor has not worked in your house in a year, is there any validity for him to place mechanics lien?
New YorkI am selling a new construction house for a builder. The last vendor/subcontractor doing work or supplying materials for this property was January 2, 2020. Is it possible that someone could still file a mechanic's lien? I need clarification of the timelines.

CaliforniaI filed a lien on a job in Palm Desert, Ca and they are saying it is invalid because it was recorded after the 90 days. I filed the lien within the 90 days, but did not record until after. Is the 90 days calculated to the time of filing or the time its recorded? The completion date of the project that they have on the letter is also invalid. How do I get this corrected? Any more questions or clarifications, please dont hesitate to contact me,

The Lien Law permits a contractor “who performs labor … for the improvement of real property…at the request of the owner” to file a mechanic's lien. Even though the Lien Law is to be “constructed liberally,” does it cover pre-construction services which are performed well before any “improvement” has begun?

from 2016 - 2019 when I worked on above project, I was not licensed but now I am Licensed as a General Contractor in State of California.

VirginiaHello. I am a subcontractor and I had Levelset file a prelim, intent to lien and mechanics lien in irder to protect a job. The general contractor that hired us is claiming that our mechanics lien is invalid because Levelset did not provide a proof of service and declaration regarding service which their attorney is stating is required for the prelim notice.

North CarolinaI'm a contractor working directly with the owner on a residential project, we didn't get paid for work done so we filed a mechanical lien. We provided the owner with a 20 days notice at the beginning of the job. We missed the 90 days to file a complaint after filing the mechanics lien on March 3, 2020, however the owner didn't notified us of any Notice of Completion or Cessation . Did we completely lose the rights to claim unpaid work or do we still have time to file a complaint?
CaliforniaI bought a house in Tennessee that is being renovated before my daughter can move in. I do not live in Tennessee. I retained a contractor to perform certain limited pre-renovation services. I paid that contractor’s bill. I have since learned that, without my knowledge or consent, the contractor sub-contracted with another entity to perform part of the work. I learned about that when I received a Notice of Non-Payment letter dated 90 days after the last day of the month that the subcontractor’s work was done.
Although the property is non owner-occupied, can the subcontractor file a legitimate mechanic’s lien?
