I am a resident in a low income HUD apartment and have been doing what I thought was voluntary maintenance in this apt complex since I’ve moved in 6.5 years ago. Management knew what I was doing because they watched me. About two weeks ago I got in bad trouble for painting. They said I was in violation of the lease.
No one said anything about it before and I told the district manager what I was doing a month earlier and he never said anything about it. I did this stuff because the property was so bad that they were in violation of their own lease and the residents had to suffer because of it. I’ve got about 150 hours invested in my efforts. I’m 60 years old and on disability. I did this stuff over time; an hour here or there because of my disability. Can I put a mechanic lien on this place since now I know they were just using me....Read More
I have a client who wanted a tile shower. She is canceling the contract because she believes it's taking too long even though we have no deadline in the contract. She gave us a deposit of $2,200. She wants to cancel the project and we are nearly done with the project. Do you have the legal right to come and take the materials that we purchased for the project that I've not been installed yet?...Read More

Hi all, i am Kibebew Mesafint from Ethiopia. I am an engineer in construction technology and management. I have a question to anyone of you with regards to claiming time extension or compensation as a result of COVID-19 on construction projects.
We all know that most construction projects all over the world were critically affected and were almost suspended for a longer period of time.
Well on the contrary, immediately after the encounter of the pandemic in our country ,the Ministry of Construction in Ethiopia (undermining the pandemic is a FORCE MAJEUR event to projects) promulgated regulations that obliged construction sites should not be closed during the COVID period and shall be active as usual with all the strict implementations of the appropriate COVID protocols.
My questions is, since all employers and consultants are rejecting any claims (time or cost) arising out of the pandemic's effect, what do you recommend be it technically, contractually, legally, or..... in this aspect? My main argument here is there was a noticeable amount of reduction in productivity, shortage of construction materials, price hike on all construction resources, the COVID protocols were also costly,.....
HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON! (kmesafint@gmail.com)

If the builder paid all his trades on a new build and no liens have been applied after 90 days of the occupancy permit has been issued did the builder miss use the builders trust . The owner still owes 200,000.00 of extras and unforeseen costs and decided not to pay after he moved in and said I miss used the funds and he is not paying me . Hired a lawyer and put a CPL against the builders property and told him he will remove it only if the builder removes his CPL against his house . The owner claims he gave the money to the builder and the builder miss used the funds but this a 7000 sqft plus house custom built and total builder costs was 894000.00 and the owner inlay gave him 610000.00 . When the builder put the CPL he though t is was funny and put a cpl in the builders personal property which now a potential buyer walked away from purchasing the builders personal property. As well due to the builders funds now being held or not payed by the owner of the new build he might ha e to file for bank rupcey due to the malicious act the owner of the new house has done and told people how he screwed the builder over . ...Read More

We had a contractor take our money to build a garage and all he did was put up 3 walls then walk away from the job, I have a contract, and several emails from the owner saying he is going to pay us back, although now we are at 15 months and nothing. I have a small claims court case against the surety bond company for the money plus interest. The bond company responded that they are not liable and that we didn't state a claim upon which relief may be granted. Our claim is failure to complete a project. I thought this was a no brainer slam dunk, especially with all the emails from the owner saying yes he owes me money. MY question is how do i represent myself against this big company's attorney on our court date 12/31?
Thank you!...Read More
