I am an architect and I drew a plan set for a common homeowner. The county in Indiana he lives in required that they be stamped by an engineer. I had my structural engineer look over the project and stamp the drawings. I operate my design company as a DBA. Long story short... I sent the stamped drawings to the customer nearly 2 months ago and since them he wont return my phone calls, emails, etc... I sent an invoice through the mail and via Paypal with no return. I've already payed my engineer for looking them over and stamping them. So can I file a lien on him or his property? The address I sent them to is owned by a different person who I believe to by a relative...possibly the inlaws of this guy. I didn't a people finder search on him and discovered that he has been sued many times in the past and there have been several liens filed against him before. So its becoming pretty obvious that this guys isn't going to pay me. My question is should I file a lien, take him to small claims court or so suck it up and loose the money that is owned to me. The bill to him was for just $1,067.35. I quoted the project to the gentlemen and he agreed to the price. I didn't take a down payment and we didn't sign a contract.

I did however finish a small job on this project on feb 01 20 .. so I need to proceed fast .. this is a power coap job that is funded by ras .. we are doing miles of aerial cable .. someone said a bond claim was the best action ..

IndianaAs a contractor I began doing work, maintenance and upkeep on a home in Indiana (February 2000). The labor included weekly lawn care, snow removal, construction labor, cleaning, painting, carpet replacement, trash removal, landscaping, window cleaning, etc. I also purchased materials for the property for years. The owners died in 2013; however, I maintained the property until February 2020. I was to receive compensation from the owner's or the estate upon the passing of the owner. The estate owes me approximately $29K. Do I have a right to file a lien on the property?

Indianaa subcontractor has a filed a lien against my home as the main contractor did not pay him. I have paid the main contractor in full for the job. Also, i did not receive a Notice of the Lien or the Intent to file.
IndianaI am a residential general contractor who signed a contract to build a house for a customer. The customer hired their own excavator, and at the owner's direction, the excavator dug a hole for the basement. The owner cancelled their closing with the title company, so they had no funding from a lender to begin the project. The owner also began making purchasing decisions without filling out change orders. The contract stated that X amount of dollars was to be paid to me before the start of the project, which was not possible since the closing was cancelled by the owner. If no money has changed hands and no work has been performed by my the builder, does the owner have any legal recourse if the builder cancels the contract due to breach of contract by the owner?

were 97 % complete, We had a issue with an inspection. We corrected the issue and mid way through finishing siding that was already installed he had a issue with the color. he stated it was grey. It was white siding to match the house and said were fired. they owe us 57,526.83. how can i recover these funds without waiting on a lein.

IndianaA contractor was hired to take out a huge stump and build a garage. He had to pay $2000 to rent machines to remove the stump and bought lumber for the garage. When the tree was out the homeowner 'changed his mind' about the garage and demanded money, saying you can keep the lumber. The money was spent so could not be refunded. The homeowner put a lien on the contractor's property. How can this be contested and removed? The homeowner wanted to be paid to have the tree stump removed, it appears.
IndianaIf I have builder that curses at you, will not communicate with you and has not fixed problems that should of been fixed and pretty much says it will get done when he wants it done, along with not providing us with credits due and an invoice on overage. IndianaHow does a continuation sheet look when you bill the retainage?
IndianaWe have furnished a contractor full labor for a project in Indiana. Contractor we invoice for progress on roof construction for full payment less retainage. Contractor now is deducting from percentage remaining $16,000 for an expense that should be incurred by the contractor. Need advice to know if we do have the right to lien a property based on this.
