I hired a contractor to replace an old detached garage a year and a half ago. The permit came through in March of this year, no doubt delayed due to coronavirus. The contractor moved out of state but assured me that he would find local people to complete the job. He has sent out three guys since March and none of them want to deal with him because he's out of state. The problem is that in April he told me that he would be hiring one of them and wanted me to send him money so he could pay the guy. Then the guy didn't work out so my contractor has my $20K. Since then he's sent out two other guys to complete the work and they didn't work out either. But since each guy does a few hours work, I feel like I can't claim breach of contract. The other problem is that before he moved out of state, last July, my contractor tore down the old garage and dug the hole for a new foundation (because the original foundation was over 100 years old and broken/buckled) so I've had a big hole in my backyard for a year now. I borrowed a lot of money to pay for it when he first took the job and he promised to have it done last year (promise not in writing) so I was planning on refinancing when the job was finished in order to pay for everything. But now I have a ton of debt and no garage and feel contractually tied to this guy. If I fire him I will probably never get my $20K back. This is a NC question. What if the general contractor did not file a Preliminary Notice on a private renovation contract with a residential homeowner. The renovation costs are backed by a lender, however there is an overage amount due to change orders that the homeowner is personally responsible for and so far is not paying.

Im a Lawn and Landscaping company owner, and recently had a customer accept my bid for her property. So i collected half down for materials like normal and got the materials, Completed the job, And everything in the scope of work, And the customer is now demanding extra materials not listed in the contract. I am widow And my I am struggling to open my husbands estate
And in the process his mother's estate is supposed to be getting settled
My husband passed away so that entitled me to His share of his mother's estate as well as his children
How ever his sister whom is executrix over his mothers estate is with hold his share which is now supposed to go to me as well as she has kicked me out of our homes and is saying I have no rites
With that being said I want to file a lien on our homes so she can't sell them from out from under me and I need an attorneys to take my case on contingentsy
The estate us 150 to 200 thousand any help would be great
