I am a subcontractor working on a commercial job. I submitted my final invoice and contractor is disputing my work. He has refused to pay me full invoice amount plus the retainage fee. He has offered me $9,000. of the $13000.00 and has asked me to sign a Conditional Waiver and release upon Final Payment. Can I sue him for the rest of the money?

We had a contract for 160,000.00 that the bank loan paid, was supposed to be a remodel. House was so bad it had to be demoed and new construction. I have a demolition contract. I never did a new construction contract. Homeowners knew before the demo that the price would increase. We had a verbal agreement that they knew there was a price increase even if we did not rebuild the entire house, and continued with the remodel.
North CarolinaI am a general contractor contemplating termination of a utility subcontractor with whom I have three existing and ongoing projects. The work has been substandard in many instances and the projects are not being finished on time, per our written agreement. Our contract contains both a default and a termination clause. The termination clause states that I may, without cause, suspend, delay, or interrupt the Work in whole or in part. The Default clause requires me to provide notice of default and an opportunity to cure the default. Is it ok to proceed under the termination clause? I shoudl note that many of the insufficiencies have been discussed orally, to no avail?

North CarolinaI pulled permits and hired subs for a garage. The owner is not paying their invoices per my contract they had signed. I have a lien agent through NC Liens. I have filed an intent and wondered how soon I should enforce the lien? I feel they will try to finish the job before I am paid what is owed.
