how does a homeowner ensure that the materials used in the construction project by the general contractor get paid and a lien will not be filed by the material supplier?
FloridaI live in Florida. I am a Brick Mason and Ive done a job through a concrete sub contractor for a general contractor here locally. I recently closed my masonry company, after 5 years, due to losing everything in a divorce. The concrete guy and the general contractor is refusing to pay me $1,700. The job is a small sub division for the city of Jacksonville, Fl. What can I do, and what are the correct legal steps that I can take to get paid? Both agreed to pay me in front of several guys that I bought with me to help out prior to doing the job, as soon as we were done. A week has passed with no payment. Ive never been in this situation before so I dont know what to do. Your help and guidance in this matter is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

We are to the point where we have a few difficult clients that the desk adjusters have notified us the HO has been paid for our services and they are dodging collections. We would like an attorney to get involved and start sending demand letters. Our jobs range from 10,000-3,000,000 depending on the scope.

FloridaI did a house in Vero Beach Fl and the homeowner did not pay me so I put a lien on her house after she didn't pay. I tried to work with her and help her out with her living needs which she also signed a contract as a caretaker. She still didn't pay me so I sent a lien on her house for non payment of everything. I was contacted by her lawyer a few days ago and he sent me a letter to withdraw the lien. I haven't been compensated at all the lien been in place since December. The total for the painting job was $27000. I added the caretaker lien for $5000. Bringing her total to $32000. They are trying to sell the house for $1.4 million. Her attorney said I cannot place a lien for caretaker needs. Should I create a edited lien or go ahead and sign the release of lien.

FloridaGood morning. We have a client that retained us for pool design work in St. John, USVI. He paid us the initial design deposit of $18,000. The balance was due upon completion. We completed the work December 17 and since the client has not responded to any correspondence other than a couple text trying to schedule a call but then he always dissapears. What can we do to file the lean on the property to ensure we get paid. I am now responsible to pay our designer the cost. The client had asked for more time to set up a call and every week he never responds or answers.
