What should I do if there is more or different scope of work besides our contract?

TexasChange Orders

We signed a contract to install doors and hardware. But now they want us to install temporary doors not the originals from the contract. So basically a change order. But have not received a changer order signed. So no they want us to install the doors as per contract even if they are temporary ones.

Hello,

Change order. Your best way to do this is in writing and signed by all parties. In a pinch, I can use a text message explaining the change in product, a change in completion time, a change in price, and requesting express confirmation that it is okay to proceed with the requested change. I can also use an email or something else. A written explanation and an express agreement is what I would want.

Under no circumstances should you do it with nothing in writing and no written agreement.

Make sure that your communications are in writing, especially any that will change the work scope or cost. Prepare a change order for the customer to set out what you believe your customer wants, and include any change in pricing, and send the change order to your customer with a request for signing.

Good luck.
