When a claimant remains unpaid - even after sending a document like a Notice of Intent to Lien - often, the next step will be to file a mechanics lien. While it's unfortunate when a lien must be filed, lien filings aren't always avoidable.
Generally, filing a mechanics lien will be as simple as filling out a lien form, bringing or mailing that form to the county recorder's office for recording, and then providing notice of the lien claim.
