We started a project on a fireplace but the project was held up for permitting. The customer lives in a city that was very difficult to even get the permit. We are finally completed with the project and find that the fireplace has increased in price by over a $1000.00 since we started. Do we have to eat that as the GC or can we bill the customer? They have paid 50%. We have completed framing and outside of the home repair. Everything is done except for insert which was a change order. The original project was a full kitchen and family room remodel. Which is 100% complete and passed final inspections.
To clarify - they paid 50% for the change order.
The rest of the project is paid in full.
