A Kansas mechanics lien claimant can release their lien by filing a document stating the lien has been satisfied and should be removed from the record. That document should generally reference the lien that was filed, and it should be filed in the same office as the lien was originally filed.
Just like with a mechanics lien filing, lien releases will have associated filing fees, and just like any other document that gets recorded, it will need to be formatted in such a way that it can be recorded. Of course, there are online resources, including Levelset, which can help facilitate the lien release process.
Note, though, that a claimant may also be able to provide a lien release document to their customer and/or the project owner and have them record the document.
For more information on lien releases, here's a great resource: Lien Release Guide, Forms, & Resources.
