Looking to Kentucky's mechanics lien statute - KRS § 376.090 states that a mechanics lien shall be deemed dissolved if the claimant fails to enforce their mechanics lien within 12 months of filing their lien claim. But, if an owner does wish to have the lien removed from the property record - it might be helpful to consult a local real estate lawyer. They can provide some insight on how to request for the removal of the claim from the record, whether that'd be a filing with the court or with a request to dissolve an outdated lien with the recorder's office.
Further, when their lien has expired, it might also be helpful to request a release of lien from the lienholder. Granted, they may be reluctant to release a filed lien if they still haven't received payment.
