How can I get paid

ColoradoMechanics Lien

The owner of the trucking company I was driving for was arrested by the FBI. On money laundering and fraud charges. And I'm owed 3 weeks of millage pay ontop of bobtail millage. Can I put a mechanic's lein on the truck I have been driving until I'm paid in full?

Mechanics liens are generally available to those who perform construction-related work which permanently improves the project property. Despite the somewhat-misleading name, a mechanics lien attaches to real property - land - rather than a vehicle. So, when unpaid for trucking work, a mechanics lien won't be available against the truck in which the work was performed. Granted, if the trucking work performed is hauling to or from a job site, there's a chance that mechanics lien rights might be available. For more information on who's entitled to file a mechanics lien in Colorado: Colorado Mechanics Lien Guide and FAQs. For more insight into what other recovery options may be available to you, posting your question at sites like Avvo or JustAnswer might be more helpful since they don't exclusively focus on construction-related topics, like the Expert Center currently does.
