If your customer refuses to pay you what you're owed, then a Georgia mechanics lien claim could certainly be a strong option. Though, Georgia subs must send preliminary notice to preserve their right to file a mechanics lien. And, of course, before deciding to pursue a lien claim, sending a payment demand letter or a Notice of Intent to Lien could also force payment, too. And, in the event that a lien claim isn't available, this article has good information about alternatives: Can’t File a Lien? Here Are Some Other Options For Recovery. If a lien claim is available and necessary, these resources will help understand the ins and outs of Georgia mechanics lien filings: (1) Georgia Mechanics Lien Guide and FAQs; and (2) How to File a Georgia Mechanics Lien – Step by Step Guide to Get You Paid. Finally, this question is extremely similar to another recent question - so the information here may be useful to you: Can I file a lien?
