I bought a house and had a CL100 performed in Feb. The company that preformed the CL100 only mentioned one small area of wood rot & no mold. In March I had my contractor go under the house as I had some suspicion about a few week spots in the floor. He then notified me that there was a tremendous amount of wood rot, roughly 75% of seal plates and joists. I contacted the CL100 company and he said tough luck it’s past 90 days. What can I do?

After semi-completing framing and roofing he filed bankruptcy. I had a total contract of $72,000 and had paid $47,000 so far, which covered his price quote for framing and roofing (including materials). I have now been served liens for ALL of the framing and roofing materials that were not paid. What is the likelihood they will try to enforce the lien? I provided the attorney for the suppliers proof of my contract and payments. Can I be made to pay TWICE for the materials? I live in South Carolina. TIA
South CarolinaWe are a subcontractor for a private commercial project where the contractor has been paid by the project owner but the contractor is not paying their contracted retainage. It’s only $1100 but would like to know if there is any cost efficient way to recover these amounts due. We have no outstanding work for the contractor.

We have never filed a preliminary notice however have a large job coming up and would like to issue one. Is this something you can assist with (informing us of the process and making sure the legal requirements are met)? What is the cost for this notice?

Am I considered an essential worker?
South CarolinaMy builder did not complete our house at the end of our contract and is now saying we have no contract and no more house. He would not extend the contract from the April 16 close date so I sent him a letter stating we wanted the contract extended until house was completed on April 14th. He said goodbye and that is it.
