My mother and I decided to renovate her property for sale...and agreed to split profit in writing. She house is in closing for 260,000. She will profit 120,000 after mortgage and materials. I did 99.9 percent of work...and now she's offering me 12,000. The work I've done on low end is about 22,000. I know in NC I can only go up to 30,000. The house closes in a month. If I file a lien immediately will it still beat her closing?
