Will a civil judgement effect my GC license?

TexasLicenses

Hi, I'm a licensed GC here in San Antonio TX, I just recently was sued in civil court for $5,000. The homeowner messaged me to release funds to the sub, the sub-contractor misappropriated the funds and the homeowner came after me and won. What repercussions will this have on my license? Trying to decide whether to appeal or not. The judge was not interested in proof or reasoning.

Texas does not require that general contractors be licensed. Some municipalities require that a general contractor register, but that is not the same as a license.

You really should retain a construction attorney to evaluate your legal position and to provide advice.

Good luck.

Appeal or pay the judgment.
