My company had a software development agreement with a client to produce a solution for their operation. In negotiating the deal, they said they didnt have the full amount initially, and we agreed to take a certain amount upfront. The balance would be split over 11 mths, and added to the monthly maintenance invoice sent out for monthly services provided. They terminated the maintenance agreement early, so, they do owe the balance of the amount for the solution. We invoiced them for the rest of the 11 mths that was left and now they want us to sign a document saying "nothing else is outstanding after they pay this last invoice". We did say so on the invoice and in emails, but they still want us to sign something else. What is the appropriate thing to give them?
