When does a Construction contract end?

TexasConstruction Contract

I have a completed home that we closed on 10 months ago. I now have the builder (not subcontractors) trying to recover expenses in excess of what i paid at closing. I paid the contracted amount at closing. What are my protections? When does the construction contract "end"?

The legal analysis would start with a review of your contract, and then extend to any change orders or other documents pertaining to the contractor's performance, and to the contractor's claims and to any communications which have occurred.

If the contractor has claims for extra work or for change orders, the contractor may have up to four years (the statute of limitations for the collection of debt) to pursue the claims. But, typically, the contract specifies when and how the contractor should make claims for extras or for change order work.

Retain a construction attorney to evaluate your legal situation and to provide advice.

Good luck.
