im a sub contractor and i finished my work but the GC keeps making stuff up to complain about and i feel they are trying not to pay me, when can i file a lien

Typically you are able to file a lien the same day you provide material and/or labor. Have you sent any notices or demands for payment? Here are the California lien laws
