What type of Lien should be used by plaintiff awarded a judgement in Civil Court?

IllinoisNotice of Intent to Lien
Anonymous Contractor

I was awarded a judgement in Cook County Civil Court for $3000.00 as a ProSe litigant. The Defendant performed sub-standard renovations in my condo, which have been corrected. Defendant has not paid after 30 business days. Prior acts of not responding to calls, Demand Letter, appearances for court dates, never filing a response to my court claim, etc. show his pattern of avoidance. I have the option of placing a lien on his home which is in Will County. Most information I'm reading is geared toward "Mechanic's Liens". Mine is not. Will it be called a "Judgement Lien"? Any specifics for this type of lien? Thank you.

It sounds like you're indeed referring to a judgment lien, which will generally be available to those who've been awarded a judgment but have struggled to recoup their award. I'm no expert in Illinois judgment liens, but it looks like there are some great resources on pursuing Illinois judgment liens online: - Turning a Judgment into a Lien | Illinois Legal Aid - Enforcement Judgment Liens Against Real Estate | Illinois Legal Aid - Judgment Liens on Property in Illinois
