What to do if contractor files a false license on our home

ColoradoMechanics Lien

Hello, my wife and I hired a contractor in November of 2020 to rebuild our deck. We put half down on the agreed project. In December of 2020 the contractor suggested we build a top deck as well, we decided to go with his suggestion and paid a down payment for the top deck. Now fast forward to May 29th of 2021 after several mistakes by the contractor and hits to our checkbook, he walks off the jobsite without completing the deck and now he puts a $14,500 line on our home when we only owed $5900 and that was only if he finished

I am sorry for the issues. If the lien is excessive, that can result in forfeiture of the entire lien and your attorney fees and costs. So you should contact an attorney and they can make a demand and then consider options if they refuse to remove the lien.

Yikes! You need a lawyer. He has the right to lien, but it can't be excessive and you need to know your rights and how liens work and expire.
