We were hired as subcontractors by a general contractor to complete work on a home. The owner of home signed a contract with us for the work amount of $11,600 an amount that was already agreed upon between him and the gc that subcontracted us.. now the project is nearly complete the owner fired us two days prior to completion ( knowing we don't possess a GC license) and is refusing to pay. The general contractor that hired us won't back us and is telling us there was never actually a contract for that amount of 11,600 between the two parties. Without a GC license in VA I'm reading everywhere that we have no protections or recourse now that payment is not being made.
