What should I do when a person used Levelset to file a fraudulent mechanics lien against me?

California

A client of yours filed a mechanics lien for work he did at our residence in March, 2021, presented us a bill, and was paid in full on the date he presented the bill. He is not a California licensed contractor, nor did he work under a licensed contractor. the amount of the bill presented was $775. He also had been working from 10/16/20-9/14/21 for his girlfriend at our commercial building she was under contract to purchase on or before 11/5/21. His labor was unsolicited by us. No bill was presented, nor any demand was made until 11/9/21 when his girlfriend 's lease purchase expired and she did not execute the purchase of the building. Her earnest money was non-refundable. On 11/9/20 your client submitted a written bill (the first written invoice ever) to us for all of his labor and materials he had done under the direction of his girlfriend. In addition, he submitted a retroactive bill for a new hourly wage for the work he had done at our home and had been paid for in March. Today your company filed a Mechanic's lien on our property for a new amount due for work which is stated at "finished" on 11/5/21. We would appreciate a call from a representative of your company regarding this fraudulent lien. Thank you so much for your consideration. Sincerely, Connie Higgins (530) 258-2547
