What is the next step after sending a Intent to Lien?

California

We did an elevator modernization on 2 elevators in a condominium complex. All work has been completed but they still will not pay the remaining $3,000.00.

Send a notice of completion, then record your lien. Or, sue immediately in small claims for $3k.

If you intend on pursuing a mechanics lien, after serving your preliminary notice (i.e., intent to lien), your next step would be to record a mechanics lien.

You have 90 days from completion of the project to record a lien, then 90 days from recording to file suit. The intent to lien does not create a lien on the property. You need to record it.
