If I am a sub-contractor on a new-build apartment building project in California where the developer has gone bankrupt, and the project was financed with construction loans, is my mechanics lien senior to those construction loans?

Under Civil Code Sec. 8450, et seq., all mechanics liens have equal priority dating back to when work was FIRST performed on the project site, e.g., the excavator's lien and the painter's lien have equal priority. If the deed of trust securing the construction loan was recorded AFTER you can prove work commenced on the project, then the mechanics liens have priority over the construction loan.
