Im a contractor who was fired from a job before I finished there is out standing balance on the job that the customer is refusing to pay. The customer works out of state and is hardly ever home im wondering if there is another way to send the lien?

You can serve the notice by either personal delivery or registered mail if you do not want to do certified mail, return receipt requested. C.R.S. § 38-22-109(3). It is unclear if you are a subcontractor. If you are, you must serve the owner and the principal contractor.
