What do I do after a mechanic lien is sent?

TexasMechanics Lien

GC owes me roughly $55,000 in completion and retainage funds. They also owe several other subs. They owe one sub over $250000 and he has a law suite. The GC is telling me that this is holding up my money.

The GC should not be making their problems your problems. Your rights as a subcontractor are to get paid for the work you rightfully did, It sounds like something My Firm deals with on a daily basis give my sales manager or me a call @ 972-872-8783 We would love to help you get paid on this Sooner Rather than let the GC run you around on this.

Dang i was afraid of that. Now its going to cost me money to get paid. Man this sucks! people like this shouldnt be able to be GCs. They should have their licence suspended for a year in that state for not paying people.

Can you charge them (GC) fees for having to use a third party to collect the funds?

That depends on state and Local regulations, and what is included In any contract that was involved. We will be able to review and confirm that for you as well. But in many instances, we are able to offset our fees to the GC
