Mechanics liens aren't actually legal actions, themselves - so California mechanics liens aren't actually filed with any court. Rather, a California mechanics lien is filed in the county recorder's office of the county where the project property is located. Of course, an action to enforce a filed mechanics lien would require a court filing - and an action to enforce a filed mechanics lien must be filed in the state district court for the jurisdiction where the lien claim was filed. For more information on CA lien claims, the following resources should be helpful: (1) California Mechanics Lien Overview; and (2) How to File a California Mechanics Lien.
