what can i do to get paid the remaining balance of $2,500 without an llc or insurance

OklahomaConstruction Contract

i’m a contractor in Lawton oklahoma, i have done about 7 weeks of work in a residential address here in town, the owner (from germany) was unsatisfied with some of the work but never said anything till my job was completed. he has paid $8000 on a $10,500 for my labor only meaning he still owes $2,500. he says he isn’t paying the remaining balance because he is unsatisfied with some of the work. but allowed me to compete my job duties before saying anything. I don’t have an llc or insurance, is there anything i can do to get my remaining balance of $2,500 from this guy

You can sue him. You don't need a LLC or insurance in order to press your claim in court. In this case, it could be a good candidate for a small claims action. Many attorneys will help you prepare to put on your own case, which will save you in attorney fees and help your chances of success. This kind of case has both the risk and benefit of "fee shifting," which means the loser pays the winner's attorney fees. So, an attorney might take this case on a contingency basis, which means the attorney only gets paid if (1) you win at court or obtain a settlement, and (2) you get paid. Check in with a local attorney for advice on how to proceed.
