What are the next steps after receiving a Notice of Bankruptcy?

California

A customer of ours just sent us a Notice of Bankruptcy and they are asking us to sign it. We have no idea what it is and how to proceed. We are also very concerned that they are asking us to sign it. Any help would be much appreciated on how to proceed. Thank you

A Notice of Bankruptcy is a document that is sent to all creditors listed in the filing that provides information about the proceedings and any necessary actions they may have to take; if any. In my (extremely limited) experience, Notices of Bankruptcy are typically simple informational documents that provide deadlines & hearing information. But I'm not a bankruptcy lawyer, and I would suspect someone with more expertise in that arena would be able to provide better insight.

If someone is asking you to sign a document related to a Notice of Bankruptcy, it might be a good idea to consult with a California attorney (preferably a California bankruptcy attorney) who can advise you on the document & how best to proceed.
