We will release the lien?

Illinois

Hello. The County claimed my mother owed back taxes due to an "error on their part". This was in excess of $7K, before fees if they will be added. They said she wasn't living in the home. She never filled for an exemption it was already there but it didn't appear to be erroneous as she was living there during the period in question. Long story short after I finally attended an administrative hearing for her, I was told the lien would be released. Initially the detective said it would be an uphill battle to prove that the new residence was her main domicile and that this is what I would be required to do, after a long discussion with her. However at the hearing none of the was discussed and I was told to do a couple of things, come back and the lien would be released. What does this mean? Is it cancelled? Is it no longer against the house? Is payment maybe an option now, when before it had not been. Will payment for this "error" still be expected? The head detective didn't explain and he just went before the judge stating we were getting a continuance. Thanks for clarfying this term. I am now just seeing this venue is for construction related matters only. But after taking the time to type all if this I figured I'd leave my question anyhow, just in case. Thanks
