We filed a lien on 4/23/20 what else can I do to get paid ??

CaliforniaLien Foreclosure

I'm a sub contractor and was working directly with the homeowner. Last day on the job was February 16, 2020. I filed a lien in April and haven't heard anything form my customer. Would like to know what else I can do to get paid?

Once a California mechanics lien has been filed, it will be valid for a period of 90-days after filing. If no action is taken within that timeframe, the claim will expire and no longer be enforceable. So mark your calendar and keep an eye out for that date. As far as any actions you can take right now, there's not much you can do if the customer is being unresponsive. One tactic that many contractors use is to send a Notice of Intent to Foreclose. This isn't a required notice, but has proven effective at inducing payment. Consider it one final warning to the owner. It states that you have still been unpaid, and if payment isn't forthcoming within x amount of days that you are willing and able to enforce your claim in court. You can download a free template here. The threat of litigation and foreclosure of the property is typically enough to get the ball rolling on your payments. If not, then filing an enforcement action may be your next step. Good luck! Here are some other resources that my prove useful:

Hello, A few days back some guy knocked my home and said my roof is bad and he can help me replacement it and asked me to sign the authorization to talk to insurance which I signed. My insurance company came and approved the new roof. I checked the companies review and found they are not good. I told them that I am not going with them based on Reviews and ratings. I offered them $1000.00 as they came on the insurance inspection day. They refused it and now they are asking me to pay 20% otherwise they will put lien on my home. They are also asking me to send them the paper work I received from the insurance company. Can they put lien even without starting any Work? Thanks, Surender
