Surety bond confusion

Florida

City accepted a job bid and the work has already begun. Now city attorney has put a halt on the work until a surety bond can be produced. What are the contractors options now? If a surety bond can not be obtained at this time s the city liable for the work that has already been done? Are they liable for the entire amount promised for the job?

Can you give us a little more detail? Are you a subcontractor on the project? Are you the general contractor?

It really depends on your job bid and also what the City RFP or bid details required when it was published.  The city would not have an issue paying for the bond premium.  I realize it is a real pain to have to deal with this now, however it would be much better for you to just get a bond - Is that an option?  I know a lot of people that could help you get a bond quickly if you would like to discuss.  Please feel free to contact me directly at 813-966-1675 and I can make an introduction for you.
