State Compensation Insurnace is refusing to pay an earned dividend from the year 2014. I need representation. How can I connect with an attorney that can help me?

California

I changed compensation insurance companies in 2016. When I contacted State Comp to ask about my dividend from 2014 they sent me a letter saying that the dividend could not be paid because I was not current with my premium at the time dividends are paid. I don't owe them anything and I want to stand up to them for my money. I have not been able to find an attorney that will take this case.

I'm really sorry to hear about that. While that's a little outside of the scope of what we do at zlien the following resources should provide some help: First, avvo.com is a wonderful online legal service platform with on-demand, affordable legal advice. Plus, they have a Q and A section where individuals can ask legal questions and get quick responses, free of charge, from attorneys practicing in all areas of the law! Next, reaching out to an attorney familiar with California workers compensation funds might be valuable. Lawyers.com has a list on law forms practicing in the area here, and they even break down options by location. Finally, the California Courts provide this site for Free and Low-Cost Legal Help. We hope you'll find that information helpful. Good luck recovering your dividend!
