Indiana's mechanics lien statute is mostly silent regarding how lien waivers should be used, and there's nothing in the statute which requires a contractor to submit lien waivers every time payment is received. Of course, the exchange of payment for lien waivers is extremely common in the construction industry. Further, owners should typically request that waivers be given in exchange for every payment they release. But, a contractor isn't unilaterally required to provide waivers when the contract doesn't require them and the owner doesn't request them.
