I hired a contractor for a small master bathroom remodel in Fairfax County, Virginia in May of 2021. The contract specifically stated that the work would start within 10 days and completed 15 days after signing and initiating the contract (barring unseen delays due to material deliveries etc) . The job was not completed until November 2021. There was minor damage to the bedroom carpet when they removed the old bathroom flooring. He said he would fix it. Still hasn't happened. Since then, a long crack in the drywall has appeared and the contractor was notified on January 20th of this year and I provided a photo of the issue. Neither of these two issues have been fixed and he was paid in full back in October of 2021. The thing that makes this more problematic is I live in the state of Washington and the job was to upgrade the bathroom for my 88 year old mother. I keep getting lip service with no results. There is always an excuse as to why he has not shown up. He then promises to be there on XYZ date and does not communicate whatsoever about why unless I text him and then there is another promise as to being there on a later date. I am at wits end and there is no way that these aren't simple fixes in the scheme of things. What do I do? It's a 3000 mile flight for me to return to Virginia, not to mention the cost.
