While the bond claim lawsuit is easier to pursue to conclusion because, unlike a mechanic's lien foreclosure action, you don't have to show that there is money remaining owing to the GC (after backcharges, etc.), a lien holds up funds that are otherwise going to be paid and will be an additional point of pressure that may result in payment.
