I filed a notice of mechanics lien in Ohio. Can I extend it without notifying the owner?

Hello. I think I can help you, but need a little more information. Did you file a notice or simply send it to the property owner? If it is simply a notice, it is not a claim to the property. If you filed an affidavit, it is claim to the property and you may be able to extend it depending on the circumstances of the case.

Feel free to call me at 513-852-5988 or email me at arf@santenhughes.com with questions.

Mechanic’s liens expire after 6 years. If you do not seek to foreclose the lien within that time it will become ineffective.
