Release of lien

IllinoisLien Releases

Hi there, once the homeowner has paid . what are the next steps? I did what i thought needed to be done. I sent payment to the Will County Recorder as instructed to release the lien as well as sent them a notorized release of lien document with what i thought was the proper info. I recieved the check back with a letter stating that they were rejecting it and gave me a list of reasons why.. One of them being that the document i sent wasnt a standard document.. what exactly is the "standard document" Help! Please! (the lien itself was prepared by Levelset) Kristy Kline Administrative Assistant S&H Contracting Inc.

If the IL lien release was rejected for not being a "standard document," that means the form did not meet the specific formatting requirements for recorded documents in Illinois. This includes that the form be on letter size paper (8.5"x 11"), a blank space 3"x5" on the upper right hand corner of the first page, at least 10pt font, etc. The full list of requirements can be found here

Alternatively, if you filed the claim through Levelset, you can also file the release through the system as well: File a Lien Cancellation

Congratulations on getting paid!
