A mechanics lien expired 2 years ago on my property. I live in Cook County IL. If I fill out the lien release forms, is it possible I will be sued even though the lien expired? The county says I just need to sign the forms. The Contractor added thousands owed at the end of the project that he never talked about and we didn't agree too. He got mad and put a $4000 mechanics lien on the house when we refused to pay. It is expired but I want a clean deed and title to my house. Thanks for any help you can offer.
