Prelim Job Name Description

CaliforniaPreliminary Notice

I'm an administrative assistant at a construction company. My question I have is when creating a prelim when it comes to "Building, Structure, or other...etc.", should I use the job name from the preliminary information requested or use the job name we have it saved under at my company?

The law says you have to identify the property you work on with enough information so that someone, especially the Recorder’s Office, can figure out where the property is. Most companies use the address for the project that’s on the contract. So that should be the same as the address used on your preliminary notice. You don’t need to have a parcel number (APN) on the preliminary notice. I’m happy to talk with you about this if you have any more questions. Cathleen M. Curl, Esq. Law Office of Cathleen M.
