Texas notice requirements are definitely confusing.

Generally, For subcontractors on non-residential projects, the deadline to send the required notices is the 15th day of the 3rd month following each month work was performed and unpaid. This time period is shortened to the 15th of the 2nd month after each month of furnishing for residential projects. Finally, if the sub contracted with another sub, monthly notices must be sent before the 15th of each the 2nd and 3rd month.

These deadlines are calculated based on the month(s) during which labor or material was furnished to the project and for which the claimant remains unpaid. If there is only one such month, only one notice or set of notices is required whether or not the billing cycle extends to additional months.
