Need my home protected from contractor who threatened to place abluen on my home.

New MexicoMechanics Lien
Anonymous Contractor

I am a homeowner. I had renovations done by a contractor who threatened to place a lien against my home if I didn't meet the terms of his contract. What can I do to protect my home and finances.

Thank you for your question. As explained in the Levelset article "Who Can File a Mechanics Lien," if you did not pay the contractor the amount owed as per the contract that you signed, there's a possiblity the conractor could file a lien against your home. This Levelset article explains a few ways to remove a lien on your property: https://www.levelset.com/blog/how-to-remove-a-lien/. I hope that helps!
