Do I owe the entire amount he billed me, or the difference between what the new roofer will charge to fix his work? He has filed suit for the entire amount; I've retained two inspector reports supporting the incorrect work being done, and the cost to fix it. The total amount of work necessary cannot be determined until next spring, yet the lawsuit is now. I have paid nothing of the $9800 charged. Additionally, he left 1600 nails strewn around the property. It took me 4 days to pick them up, after he did not appear to do the work himself, although he said he'd be over. I charged for my time, against his balance.
